Jo Daviess County: Forest Management Planning

  • June 04, 2016
  • 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
  • Hopton Tree Farm, near Hanover
Do you have an interest in developing a Forestry plan?  Did you know that the Forestry Plan could save you taxes and also improve your woodland?  Do you know how to determine a tree's value?  Do you know why you should work with a Forester for a tree sale?

If you would like to have answers to these questions and more, plan to attend a tour at the Greg Hopton Tree Farm on Saturday, June 4th.  Consulting Forester, Kevin Oetken, will lead a tour through the forest and answer these questions. He will also answer questions that you may have about your trees.
The walking tour is sponsored by the Northwest Illinois Forestry Association and will start at 1:00 pm at the Hopton Tree Farm which is located at 10414 South Crazy Hollow Road, Hanover, Illinois.

To get to the tour site, take Route 84 south from Hanover for about 2 miles and turn west on Crazy Hollow Road.  Travel 1.9 miles to the site and park along the road.

As a bonus to the tour, Mr. Hopton will invite people to tour his home where he has utilized wood from his forest to panel different rooms.  He has a Hickory bedroom, Red Oak family room, a White Birch bathroom, a Walnut room and hallway, a Red Elm covering of the fireplace support, and a Cherry bedroom.

The tour is free and open to the public.
