Managing Forests for Wildlife

IDNR and SWCD experts will lead a discussion and viewing of several forestry practices beneficial to native wildlife, considering the effects of each.  They will also identify various species native to northwestern Illinois and which practices can improve their habitat and presence.

Leading this session will be SWCD Resource Conservationist Dave Harrison and IDNR Wildlife Biologists Jeff Horn and Scott Schaeffer.

DIRECTIONS: Timber Valley View Farm is at 1065 Devil's Ladder Road, Galena.  From Galena, take US Route 20 about 6 miles east to Devil's Ladder Road.  From Elizabeth, take US Route 20 about 11 miles west to Devil's Ladder Road.  Then, turn south on Devil's Ladder Road and drive about 1.5 miles to Timber Valley View.
