Dekalb County: Kirkland Sawmill Tour

The Northwest Illinois Forestry Association (NIFA) is sponsoring a tour of the Kirkland Sawmill on Friday, August 17th at 1:00 pm. The Kirkland Sawmill is a family owned and operated small business that was established 35 years ago. The company specializes in kiln dried native hardwood lumber, trailer decking, fencing, kiln dried live edge slabs, construction and pallet grade hardwood lumber, firewood, sawdust and  mulch. They also offer custom sawmilling, planning, and sanding.

This tour will show a sawmill with its 52 inch blades turning logs into lumber and all of the company’s lumber and related wood products. The tour is free and open to the public.

Kirkland Sawmill is located on Route 72 at 606 Main Street on the west edge of Kirkland.  Drive east on Route 20 to Route 39 on the south side of Rockford.  Eight miles south on Rte 39, take Route 72 east for 10 miles to Kirkland.
