The Northwest Illinois Forestry Association will host Forestry Consultant John Schroeder for its Tuesday, February 26th, 7:00 pm meeting at the Stockton Public Library, 140 W Benton, Stockton.   Mr. Schroeder has a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry from Colorado State University.  While attending the University, he participated in forest projects for the State of Colorado, the Federal government, and Boy Scouts of America.  Post graduation, Mr. Schroeder became involved with timber sale preparation and forest management in Northern California.  He will speak on his experiences there, including his proximity to the devastating 2018 wildfires.  He will also talk about his new position as dedicated Forest Manager for New Melleray Abbey’s timberlands near Peosta, IA.

There will be a brief NIFA business meeting to finalize the 2019 agenda before Mr. Schroeder’s presentation.   The public is welcome to attend and learn more about forestry in northwestern Illinois.  A special invitation is extended to young people interested in forestry and the opportunities it can provide in our area and throughout the nation.  More information about NIFA can be found at www.nifatrees.org.
