NIFA will tour the Clinton, Iowa, Sawmill Museum, on Saturday August 7, 2021, at 10:00a.m. and we will meet at the entrance. The museum is located at 2231 Grant Street.
The museum represents Clinton's early history as a destination for northwoods logs floated down the Mississippi River. These logs were then sawed into lumber for the construction industry. Historical saws, mills, log and lumber handling equipment are on display and we feel this will be a great experience for those that attend.
From the Illinois side, take the Route 136 bridge at Fulton across the Mississippi and turn right (north) on 2nd St (route 67). Then turn right on 23rd Ave. From the Iowa side take Route 67 to Clinton and turn east toward the river on 23rd Ave. The Museum is just before the river at the intersection of 23rd Ave. and Grant St.
Anyone can join this tour. The museum's admission charge is $6.00 per person.
