NIFA: Tour of Forest Products Lab

NIFA has arranged for a tour of the USDA Forest Service's Forest Products Lab in Madison, Wisconsin, on Friday, July 21st, from 1:30pm until 3pm.  The Lab is located at One Gifford Pinchot Drive and the tour will start in the lobby of main building #1.

The mission of the Forest Products Lab is to use our nation's wood resources wisely and efficiently while keeping our forests healthy.  Its researchers and research partners in every state have pioneered wood-based technologies; their scientific findings are used to conserve our nation's forest resources.

This tour will visit with primary researchers in wood anatomy, wood durability, advanced bio-based composites, the science of forest fires and structural fires, weather effects on wall assemblies, and engineering tests of materials and structures.
