NIFA: Tour of Eisbach's Wooded Wonderland

The Northwest Illinois Forestry Association will host a tour of John Eisbach’s Wooded Wonderland Lumber Company near Galena Saturday, August 19th, at 1:00 pm.  Mr. Eisbach cuts, dries, and retails hardwood and pine lumber at his facility.  He markets lumber from his own sustainably managed woodlot as well as from locally purchased logs, looking for the unusual.  Mr. Eisbach will show the large industrial band saw he cuts with as well as the kiln in which lumber is dried.  The kiln is heated with a Woodmaster outdoor wood burning furnace.  He will show the furnace and talk about how it is also used to heat other buildings, including the workshop and retail area.  For more about the business, go to https://wwhardwood.com. 

This tour is free and open to the public.

To get there, take Highway U.S. 20 five miles east of the City of Galena, to S. Devils Ladder Rd.  Turn south and go one mile.  The entrance to Wooded Wonderland Lumber Co. at 610 S. Devils Ladder Rd. will be on the right.
