Wood Processing Tour

Come see how logs are transformed into a multitude of products. On June 20th, the Northwest Illinois Forestry Association (NIFA) will host a tour of Shockey Enterprises at 2701 N. Kinney Rd., Ridott, IL. The tour begins at 9:00 a.m. at the facility, rain or shine. Mr. Kim Shockey, owner/operator, will provide information about all the business has to offer. From harvest, transportation, sawing, drying, milling, and sanding, to finished tables, counters, and flooring, Shockey Enterprises does pretty much any customized wood products, as well as firewood. Demonstrations of many of these processes will be on display. Please bring hearing and eye protection and be ready to observe a unique operation right here in our neighborhood.
