The Northwest Illinois Forestry Association (NIFA) is interested in involving young people in learning of the benefits of forest management. These benefits affect wildlife, water quality, local jobs and economy, and a host of other current issues. NIFA wishes to invite local educators and all others interested in this topic to a discussion Wednesday, January 20th, 7:00pm, in the Atwood Room of the Stockton Public Library, 140 West Benton St., Stockton IL.
Youth and forestry will be the main topic. (The Library is located one block west of Main Street. Turn between Bauer Agency and The Corner Tap.)
NIFA is an organization of approximately 130 landowners, forestry professionals, and interested individuals devoted to promoting awareness of the economic and environmental value of well managed forested lands in the northwestern 6 counties of Illinois (Jo Daviess, Carroll, Whiteside, Stephenson, Ogle, and Lee). NIFA organizes and sponsors monthly tours and events highlighting forestry related businesses and activities in northwestern Illinois.
These events are open to the public and are a great opportunity for people to see what is going on with forestry right here in our area.
