On Saturday May 5th, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., a demonstration of forestry practices will be given on the Ken and Julie Beach property southwest of Stockton. The forestry practices presented will include 20-year old direct seeding of seven acres (110 bushels of tree-seed collected), clear-cut for poplar tree regeneration, tree protection from deer, 25-year old white pine wind break, multiple tree and shrub hand plantings, and management practices on existing forest stands (invasive removal, tree-stand improvements). There is a lot to be observed on this eighty acre property.
The farm is located on Morseville Road about one mile east of the intersection with Massbach Road. This is also just west of Dave Oppold farm at 7651 East Morseville Road, about 3 miles west of Rte 78. Morseville Road is 3.5 miles south of Stockton on Rte 78. The Northwest Illinois Forestry Association is announcing this event which is open to the public without charge.
