The Northwest Illinois Forestry Association (NIFA) will welcome Matthew Parbs, Executive Director of the Clinton SawMill Museum, at the annual dinner meeting on Tuesday, March 24th, at 7 pm at the Mount Carroll Church of God.  Mr. Parbs, a dedicated historian, will discuss the history of the lumber industry on the Mississippi and centered on Clinton, Iowa.

From 1870 to 1895, Clinton, Iowa, controlled 90% of the lumber industry on the upper Mississippi.  Mr. Parbs will cover the logging, rafting, milling, and all other processes that brought great wealth to this nearby community.  Then, with the Great Panic of 1893, everything collapsed.  Join us for this fascinating story of the lumber empire that contributed to the building of America.

Reservations must be made by Tuesday, March 17th.  With a reservation, fee for the dinner and program is $12 for NIFA members and their guests or $15 for non-members.  Without a reservation, it is $15 for NIFA members and $18 for non-members.  Dinner fees will be collected at the door.

Reservations can be made by phone to Ken Beach at 815-232-2032 or by email at kbeach@fehr-graham.com or by clicking on the REGISTER button on this page.

The March 24th dinner will begin at 7 pm followed by the evening's program.

The Church of God is located at 816 S. Clay Street, Mount Carroll, Illinois.  Clay Street is Route 78 and the Church is just north of Route 52/64 on the east side of Clay.
