NIFA: Overview of Carbon Credit Programs

This meeting was originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 11th, but has been postponed to Tuesday, January 25th, due to resource constraints.  The meeting should be available via Zoom as well and that information will be posted here before the meeting.


The Northwest Illinois Forestry Association will host Forestry Consultant John Schroeder for its Tuesday, January 25th, 7:00 pm meeting at the Stockton Public Library, 140 W Benton, Stockton.  Mr. Schroeder will present Carbon Credits for timber areas. He is working through the process for the New Melleray Abbey and has spoken with many of the players selling these credits. The Abbey is currently weighing the options.

Mr. Schroeder has a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry from Colorado State University.  While attending the University, he participated in forest projects for the State of Colorado, the Federal government, and Boy Scouts of America.  Post graduation, Mr. Schroeder became involved with timber sale preparation and forest management in Northern California. He is currently full-time Forest Manager for New Melleray Abbey’s timberlands near Peosta, IA.  

There will be a brief NIFA business meeting to finalize the 2022 agenda before Mr. Schroeder’s presentation.

Library, 140 W Benton, Stockton. Mr. Schroeder has a Bachelor’s Degree in
Forestry from Colorado State University. While attending the University, he

speak on his experiences there, including his proximity to the devastating 2018
wildfires. He will also talk about his new position as dedicated Forest Manager for
New Melleray Abbey’s timberlands near Peosta, IA.
